In my case the screen is completely black, no controls at all. Clicking where they should be doesn't work either. Nor resetting the iPad or re-installing the app (without deleting the data). Not cool guys!
The same happenned to me. Updated to 0.44 on iOS 11, then decided to pay for the app and... black screen.
