I notice new map function is added to the game. Can I change my map to enjoy it? Or I have to start a new game?
If you are referring to regions then you will have to restart. It unfortunately can't be combined with old maps. I wish it could but it can't :(

The good thing with regions is you'll grow faster, there's more to do, and your colony's potential for production increases drastically. Go ahead and hop right into playing it.
In fact, if you've declared independence on your original colony, you could acquire you region colony and gift it with tons of resources depending on how advanced your colony is now. that should get your new regions colony through all of the bottlenecks. So you wouldn't be starting over, you would be expanding. Then eventually, once your regions colony dwarfs your original colony in size and production rates, you can decommission your original colony and create a vast commonwealth with your regions colony.
I think they are asking about expansion. You don't have to start over but you need lvl 5 consul or lvl 6 capitol. It costs money and civics

Ah, and there's that too.
But overall regions will still always have more space righr>?

The only limit to expansion is your computer's performance, so it's theoretically unlimited. However, a regions map will let you easily get a larger total size than you would be able to run on any practical computer via expansions.
