*rant*

50k limit sucks

10b is peanuts :/

resources keep being built and decayed and thus wasting your resources, if you get maxed out resource production should stop and the required materials should stop being consumed

give us a better definition of how you want the GBT to be used

The reasons you just gave are part of why this has been done. The GBT is a trade tool not money making tool.

And the 50k was temporary. It's now been adjusted to your max gifting and storage capacity. Read the releasenotes.

Money is a resource that can be traded, I derive pleasure by building a trading empire on this game since there's not much else to do.

Edit: it's still 50k dude, where does it say it went back to normal?

I got that. I've heard it from others. But it's not what the gbt is made for. It's meant for helping each other and getting a real market worth price in return. not to get rich from it by inflating the prices.

Why shouldn't the GBT be for trading for profit? When was it decided what the GBT will be used for?

Why said anything about inflating the prices?

The 50k cap is in place until enough people have upgraded to v0.50.0 that I can block access to older clients. After that the cap becomes your gift capacity.

"The purpose of the GBT is to facilitate trades between colonies and nothing more."

Doesn't say anything about helping. The GBT is to facilitate trade. It's an open ended statement https://www.thefreedictionary.com/open-ended

And why anyone trade? You have one party that needs something and a other party that can fill that need. By filling that need you are helping. and it shouldn't be yourself. And it's because of this mentality the gbt is under control now. But hey believe what you want, doesn't change anything about what happened. You have your opinion and I have mine.

You trade because you are better at making something than someone else and so they exchange you the goods they are better at making. That's called comparative advantage (https://courses.lumenlearning.com/boundless-economics/chapter/introduction-to-international-trade/)

Trading goods for other goods is called bartering (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barter) but that's not really practical since it'll be really hard to create a GBT where you request 1000 Plastic in exchange for 1000 Al or 1000 uranium etc, it'll be too messy.

Since bartering is so messy we have this great thing called currency that we use to exchange goods. You sell your excess resources to generate income so that you can in turn use that income to reinvest into resources you're lacking or to finance building something that requires cash outright or pay for stuff (tax, kickback to CW etc).

That is why you trade (http://www.economicsonline.co.uk/Global_economics/Why_do_countries_trade.html). The reason the GBT was fucked was because there was a flaw in the game and someone exploited it not because I want to trade for profit.
