in antiquitas there is a search to have bigger trees and I suggest that in my colony it would be nice to add trees that provide more wood because it is very painful to plant all the time

But they are just there until you can build tree farms (which are in my opinion pretty alright) and then trees would lose their complete value (it is the same why we don't have aluminium mines, they make the game way too easy for everyone)
Actually if you plant an area of trees and have it blocked off by a brick wall, it will eventually take over the area you set aside. Have a few of these until you can build the tree farms and you will be good.
