Trade commission price 75%
Hi I've been reading through posts and didn't see this question, pls forgive if it's been asked before.
Recently, after reading this forum, i *finally* figured out how to start trading (go online... Duh!) so I set up some trades. I think I made the price too low (not realising that's bad).
Now when I want to sell or purchase through the space elevator the amount I get from the sale is insanely low as the commission is 75%. So for 10,000 microchips I'd only get around $25,000.
I've tried putting some sales on the GBT for standard price and it hasn't brought the commission down yet. Is that cos no one has bought the contract? I don't have another colony with enough money to buy resources at overinflated prices just to try and bring the commission back under control.
I did make a purchase of something at an insanely over inflated price on the market tho and that does seem to have put the price up (and therefore brought the commission on purchases down to 50%), which is a start. I've been thinking about creating another colony on a massive map and using it to rinse resources. I guess I could trade with the colony I have and maybe bring the prices more in line that was also. Then at least I'm not loosing cash, I'm just transferring it between colonies.
Anyway, if anyone has any suggestions that'd be grand. Thanks.
If your question is why the commission is at 75% i think it goes to this level when u use it too much (?), personnally id just wait when i saw this one and it disapears (with time?)

The trade commission prices are very high when you play in Online mode to prevent people from buying low on the Galactic Freight and selling high on the GBT. If you play in offline mode, the commissions are something like 2% - 5%.
The Mass Driver/Galactic Freight/Space Elevator/Star Gate buildings are really meant for the offline players. GBT is preferred trade method for online games.

Ok thanks for that. I didn't know this. The gbt is much more expensive than the galactic freight a lot of the time though. Like massively so. But if the prices I sell at don't effect the commission price on the freight then I could sell on the gbt happily. I have a ton of regolith I don't need and am happy to sell it off cheap for those in colonies who don't have it.
Ok thanks for these replies they've been helpful
Is there any way to return to offline mode? I didn't realise going on line would have additional affects, sorry! :/

Yes. Under the slide out menu choose statistics, then on the Overview screen scroll down. It's called "local mode". Click to turn on "local mode".
ahhh ! didn't scroll down, TYVM
P.S. Sorry for the semi thread necro, but seemed pertinent :)

That means admitting the trade funcion is basically broken in this game. In certain worlds like Ice World you need to trade from early on to survive.
Sort of true, but I would say you need trade early on to survive easily and build fast. There is a reason why the difficulty on that map is listed not only as hard, but as brutal. Trading online takes away the brutal part of it.
